Featured Pet – Oski
It seems only fair that the first “Pet of the Month” would be my own dog Oski. The manner in which he entered our lives makes me believe that it was fate that brought us together. Oski was picked up by animal control and was brought to the shelter clinic where I worked for a medical exam. He had a small cut on his rear leg and they wanted to make sure he did not have any additional injuries. He was a gorgeous boxer but he had little personality and appeared terrified. Being a huge boxer fan and knowing that many shelter animals are in shock and shut down, I decided to put my name down on the list to adopt him in case no one claimed him. Unfortunately I was third on the list of potential adopters and doubted I would end up with him. So I left work that day sure I wasn’t going to get him and completely forgot to tell my husband about him. Five days later I got a call that he was mine! His owner never came to get him and the two people that signed up to adopt him changed their mind. So as fate would have it, Oski joined our family and blossomed into the wonderful dog that we all love. He loves my kids, cats and various foster animals and is as loyal and protective as ever. If you look around my website and social media accounts you will be sure to see him…dressed up, playing and just hanging out! Oski is the perfect example of why people should always check out their local shelters if they are looking for a pet. You just might find your Oski”.
