Featured Pet-Pappy
In honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month, Pappy from Best Friends Rescue in Los Angeles is the Pet of The Month. Pappy is an 8-year-old male terrier/chihuahua mix with diabetes. He may be small and weigh only 13 lbs., but he has a huge heart and loves everyone, and I do mean everyone. He loves dogs, cats, and people of all ages. He loves going for walks, being carried (in a baby Björn), snuggling, and like all pets, loves taking naps. His foster parents say he has great manners and a sweet happy personality. No wonder he is a staff and volunteer favorite at Best Friends.
Pappy is an amazing dog. The only reason this little guy hasn’t been snatched up is that he is diabetic. Unfortunately, many people don’t realize that pets, just like humans, can live long healthy and happy lives with diabetes. Pappy’s diabetes is well controlled with twice a day insulin shots and a special diet.
