Dr. Ruth’s Holiday Gift Ideas
It isn’t always easy to find the “purrfect” gift for your pet. With so many options available, how is a pet parent to choose? I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite gift ideas to help make shopping for your pet a little easier this holiday season.
1.Smart Tag
The Pawscout Smarter Pet Tag™ revolutionizes the traditional metal tag, that has not changed in over 200 years, with Bluetooth technology optimized for pets. The Pawscout Tag works in conjunction with the free Pawscout App, allowing pet parents to locate nearby dog parks, veterinarians, groomers, and other pet-friendly places, to create detailed pet profiles (with health and behavioral issues), and to enlist the aid of the rapidly-growing Pawscout community to find lost pets. The Pawscout App provides additional benefits to purchasers of the Pawscout Smarter Pet Tag, including virtual leash and pet and walk tracking. Lastly unlike GPS trackers, Pawscout has no monthly fees.

2. Toys
Does your dog love squeaky toys, but the constant squeaking drives you crazy? The HearDoggy®ultrasonic squeaky toy may be the perfect solution for you and your dog. HearDoggy® ultrasonic toys squeak at a frequency that only dogs can hear. So now your dog can squeak all day long without driving you crazy.
Available at Amazon.
The goDog™ Checkers Skinny Brown Rooster is a plush dog toy designed to withstand rough and tumble play. It has Chew Guard Technology™ so your dog will enjoy their favorite new toy longer than the typical plush toy. Chew Guard Technology™ adds a durable liner and double-stitched, reinforced seams. If a goDog™ toy doesn’t outlast the typical plush toy, they even offer a one-time replacement!
Available at Petco and Amazon.
What about your feline friends? Petlinks® has an assortment of toys, scratchers and beds designed for cats. My cats (and dog) love the Petlinks® Dizzy Thing. It’s an electronic toy that spins and rolls around the ground. Petlinks® also makes refillable catnip toys that make great stocking stuffers, and their Bliss Mist™ catnip spray can be used on any of their favorite toys or scratching posts.
Available at Petco and Amazon.
3.The gift of travel
Who doesn’t love to travel? Bring your pet along when you travel with a new Sherpa® Comfort Ride ™ Carrier. Sherpa® is widely known for being the premier producer of soft-sided carriers and they are the only line of carriers backed by the Guaranteed On-Board program. Sherpa® carriers allow your pets to travel with you in style and comfort.

4. Treats
Who doesn’t love treats? Fill your pet’s stockings with nutritious treats made with real meat, fruit and veggies. Vitabone Artisan Inspired® Biscuits are available in several irresistible flavors like Maple Bacon & Blueberry, Country Biscuits, Sausage and Gravy, and several more. If your pet is on a grain-free diet, Supreme Source® Grain-Free treats are a great choice. They are made from all natural ingredients and contain no artificial flavors or colors. And they’re made right here in the US. Available as gourmet biscuits (chicken or lamb recipes) or soft treats (turkey or salmon recipes), you can find them conveniently at your local grocery store.

5. A good night’s sleep
Pets know the value of a good nap. Whenever they have any down time, you’re likely to find them napping. That’s why you know your pet would love a comfy, new pet bed for the holidays. The Petlinks® Soothing Escape™ Gel Memory Foam dog and cat bed uses eco-sourced shredded memory foam to support joints and relieve pressure points.
The Petlinks® Soothing Escape™ Gel Memory Foam dog and cat bed is available at Chewy.
The SmartyKat® KittyCanyon™ is ideal for cats. It’s a deep walled, cozy bed that provides comfort and insulation from the cold. It even has a pouch for catnip!
The SmartyKat® KittyCanyon™ is available at Walmart.
6. Good health
And lastly, give your pet the most important gift of all, the gift of good health. Make sure your pets receive regular check-ups. All pets should be seen at least once a year, and pets older than 7 years old should be seen every 6 months. These examinations allow your veterinarian to ensure your pet is protected against preventable diseases and helps them stay ahead of potential health problems. Routine veterinary care is the best way to ensure your pets will live a long and healthy life.
Holiday shopping for your pet isn’t easy. After all, they can’t tell you or Santa what they want in their stocking. If you’re still trying to find the perfect gift for your loyal, four-legged best friend, think about some of these gift suggestions. They are sure to bring a wag to any pet’s tail.
